Traffic certainly says a lot about a website these days. The number, which is used to calculate the amount of users who click onto a website has become a determining factor in whether a website is “worthy”. Websites with significant amounts of traffic are considered gods in the industry, whereas website’s with a less favorable number are cast aside, and overlooked by the masses. Well that doesn’t seem all that fair now does it? Hypothetically speaking, Blogger X decides to start up a new website. Sure, he blasts his mailing list with links to new posts, and he Facebooks all of his friends asking them to “like” his brand new URL, but it is more likely than not that our good friend Blogger X won’t be racing onto the track with mind-blowing traffic right from the get-go. No, it seems more reasonable to estimate that in the beginning stages of Blogger X’s new online project, traffic will be sparse. So with his name on the line, and his website hanging in the balance, how does Blogger X significantly increase his website’s traffic, and fast?
Behind every successful man, is a great woman. Quote sound familiar? Recently the topic has been floating around our office, and it certainly got me thinking. If behind every successful man there is an equally successful woman, then shouldn’t this same fact ring true for every startup? The question certainly raised a few eyebrows here at the office, and I quickly turned into the butt of many feminist jokes, but I have to say that I have made up my mind on this one. A few months ago, imonomy added a female to its all-male employee roster. The new addition certainly livened up the dynamic in the office, and the change had me wondering if our boys club was so desperately in need of a good dose of estrogen? After 4 months of working side-by-side with my female co-worker, the proof was definitely in the pudding, every startup needs a professional woman.
What is every blogger’s bottom line? Well, the blogger with some integrity, and a good head on his shoulders is likely to answer this question in a very diplomatic way. When asked about his intentions for running a blog, Diplomatic Dave will probably comfort our souls with his good will, and willingness to share knowledge with others through the written word. On the flip side, however, if you do away with the diplomacy, and ask a blogger what really fuels his drive, the answer will probably have you seeing green. Simply put, in recent years blogging has evolved from being a trendy hobby to being a money-making lifestyle. While many bloggers start their online careers as a pastime, the truth of the matter is, that pastime can easily become a significant form of additional revenue, if done properly. So for the majority of today’s bloggers their online lifestyle has one very clear bottom line, and that is a dollar sign.

The twenty first century has brought us many new technological advancements. With tech becoming more mainstream by the minute, almost anyone from the 7th grader to the retired grandmother of 10, is able to turn blogging into a viable source of income. Some bloggers are not earning loose change, they are making a living out of blogging full time. Blogging is no longer some strange, and foreign concept unexplored by the masses, and used only by night owls to chat about whether Luke Skywalker will finally find a love interest in the next Star Wars movie. Today, blogging is a verb heard around the globe, and with platforms such as Blogger, and WordPress, turning your thoughts, experiences, and ramblings into an online crowd-pleaser is easier than ever. Even the most technically-challenged new blogger can find solace in online guides, and video tutorials, which are being posted around the clock in order to help both new, and experienced bloggers succeed on the World Wide Web.
